Our Journey
Our story actually starts in 2012, a year before Nano Solutions formally existed. Petr Cervenka and Saulo Onze began working with Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) on safety and membership tooling — work that proved a small, focused team could deliver platforms reliable enough for life-and-death operations. That partnership is still active today across BeachSafe, the national Operations app, and the Results competition platform, and shaped everything that came after.
Nano Solutions was founded in 2013 in Fremantle, Western Australia, by Petr and Saulo. What began as a small operation building WordPress websites for local Perth businesses quickly evolved into something far more ambitious. As our clients' needs grew, so did our capabilities — we moved from templated websites into fully custom software development, delivering bespoke platforms that solved real operational challenges.
2015 was the year the industry started noticing. Competing as Nanocore, Petr and Saulo won acQuire's Solving Real-time Geochemistry QA/QC challenge and took second prize overall at Unearthed Perth 2015 — 54 hours that produced the real-time QA/QC tool that cut sample turnaround from months to days. The same year we secured our first major enterprise client, building the platform that became SpaceFrame's Phoenix portal — proving a boutique Perth firm could deliver the same calibre of work as larger agencies. In 2016, our team won the NASA Space Apps Challenge in Perth, reinforcing our commitment to innovation and creative problem-solving. That same spirit drives every project we take on today.
Our track record of delivering reliable, high-quality software for organisations that depend on it led to our approval as a supplier on the Western Australian Government's CUAICTS2021 panel in 2021, opening the door to projects across state government agencies.
By 2024, we passed the milestone of 50+ completed projects across industries including government, not-for-profit, resources, education, and professional services. From a two-person startup in Fremantle to a trusted technology partner for organisations across Australia, our growth has always been driven by one principle: deliver outstanding work, and the rest follows.

Our process
How We Work
Every engagement starts with a discovery call where we take the time to understand your business, your users, and the problem you are trying to solve. We do not jump straight into code — we ask questions, challenge assumptions, and make sure we are building the right thing before we build the thing right.
We follow an agile methodology with iterative two-week sprints. Each sprint delivers working, testable software so you can see progress in real time rather than waiting months for a big reveal. Your dedicated project manager keeps communication transparent with regular stand-ups, sprint reviews, and a shared project board where you can track every task.
Knowledge transfer is built into our process, not bolted on at the end. We provide comprehensive documentation, training sessions, and ongoing support so your team can confidently manage and extend the software we build. Our goal is to empower your organisation, not create dependency on us.
Discovery & Planning
We define scope, map user journeys, and create a clear roadmap before writing a single line of code.
Iterative Delivery
Two-week sprints with working demos so you stay in control and can adjust priorities as you go.
Launch & Support
Thorough testing, smooth deployment, full documentation, and ongoing maintenance to keep things running.

What we build with
Our Technology Stack
We don't have a house stack that every project gets bent into. We have a set of tools we know deeply, and one rule: the software has to fit the business, the budget, and the people who'll maintain it after we've gone.
In practice that means Laravel and Vue for most of what we build. Thirteen years of delivery says they're the fastest safe path to a working platform, and there's a real talent pool for both in Perth — so you're never stuck with us. Where a project needs something else, it gets something else. We've shipped Node and Python services, Progressive Web Apps, native store builds from a single codebase, and integrations into systems that predate all of it.
The part people usually want to know about is where it runs. We're not a reseller for anyone, so we've no reason to push you at one platform. Your software can run on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, DigitalOcean, private cloud, and on-premises environments , or across a mix of those, if that's what the workload and your data-sovereignty obligations actually call for. We'll tell you which we'd pick and why — then we'll run it either way.
Where your software runs
Any of these, or a mix of them. We are not a reseller for any platform, so the recommendation follows the workload.
- Amazon Web Services
- Microsoft Azure
- Google Cloud
- DigitalOcean
- Private cloud & on-premises — managed Linux and private cloud
- Proxmox — Proxmox migration
Vendor-neutral, so we'll tell you which we'd pick and why — see how we choose a cloud, how we run and monitor it, and how we secure it.
What we build with
The tools we know deeply enough to be fast in, and common enough that you can hire for them.
- Laravel — Laravel development services
- Vue.js & TypeScript
- Quasar & Capacitor — cross-platform app development
- Progressive Web Apps — progressive web app development
- Node.js & Python
Data & integration
Most projects are not greenfield. They have to talk to something that already exists.
How we run it
Building it is half the job. The other half is keeping it up, patched and boring.
- Docker
- CI/CD & automated testing
- Terraform
- Ansible — how we use Ansible
- Monitoring & patching — cloud maintenance services
- Essential Eight baseline — Essential Eight compliance
This is what we reach for most often, not a list of everything we've touched. If your stack isn't on it, ask — taking over someone else's codebase is a large part of what we do.
Local delivery
Why Perth Businesses Choose Us
Working with a local Perth software company matters. When you partner with Nano Solutions, you are not sending requirements into a distant time zone and hoping for the best. Our office is in Fremantle — we are available for face-to-face meetings, on-site workshops, and the kind of direct collaboration that produces better software.
We understand the Western Australian business landscape. We know the regulatory environment that government agencies operate in, the seasonal patterns that affect local industries, and the practical challenges that Perth businesses face when adopting new technology. That local knowledge translates into solutions that actually fit your context, not generic platforms that need endless customisation.
As an approved WA Government CUAICTS2021 panel supplier (Contractor #225), agencies can buy from us under the CUA’s quote process instead of running an open tender. For private sector clients, that same standard of professionalism, documentation, and accountability applies to every service we deliver. Same-timezone support means when something needs attention, we are here — not twelve hours away.
Awards & Recognition
We do not chase awards, but competing against the clock alongside other engineers is one of the fastest ways we know to sharpen the team — and the results are a useful outside check on the work.

At Australia's largest capture-the-flag security competition we placed 180th of 2,167 teams in 2024, and came back in 2025 to place 272nd of 1,668. Hours spent breaking things on purpose, which is the same muscle our security work runs on.
