Social Impact
Good software is built by people — so we invest in them, especially the ones the industry too often overlooks.
From our office in Fremantle we open the door to high-school students, work-experience placements, university interns and neurodiverse jobseekers — giving real, hands-on exposure to professional software development. It's how we give back to the Western Australian community that has supported our team since 2013, and how we help build the next generation of local tech talent.

How we invest in people
High-school placements
We welcome high-school students who are curious about technology. In a focused placement they learn the basics of web development, Linux and cyber-security — working on real tools with our developers, not making coffee. It's often a teenager's first taste of what a career in software actually looks like.
Work experience & internships
We partner with schools, universities and training providers — including the UWA Coding Bootcamp and registered training organisations — to host work-experience students and software-engineering interns. We deliberately take people one at a time, so each gets genuine mentoring and meaningful work rather than being a number in a cohort.
Neurodiverse employment
Software is a field where neurodiverse minds can genuinely thrive. Working with disability employment service providers such as atWork Australia, we create paid development opportunities for neurodiverse jobseekers, including people on the autism spectrum — with the in-work support that helps a placement succeed for everyone involved.
Mentoring & community
Beyond formal placements, we mentor aspiring developers, take part in Perth's tech and startup community, and build software for community-safety and not-for-profit organisations. We believe a healthy local industry is something you contribute to, not just take from.
Frequently asked questions
Do you take on high-school students for work experience?
Yes. We host school-aged students for structured work-experience placements where they learn the basics of web development, Linux and cyber-security alongside our team in Fremantle. Students or schools can apply through the express-interest form on this page to arrange a placement.
Do you offer internships for university students?
Yes — we partner with university and training-provider programs (including the UWA Coding Bootcamp and registered training organisations) to host IT and software-engineering interns, typically one at a time so each person gets real mentoring rather than being a number.
Do you employ people with disability or neurodiverse jobseekers?
Yes. We work with disability employment service providers such as atWork Australia to create paid software-development opportunities for neurodiverse jobseekers, including people on the autism spectrum, with the in-work support that helps a placement succeed.
How can a school, jobseeker or employment service work with Nano?
Use the express-interest form on this page, or email hello@nanosolutions.io. Tell us whether you're a student, a school careers coordinator, or an employment-services consultant, and what you're looking for — we'll let you know honestly whether and how we can help.
